Made in the U.S.A.

ALL components of the Golden Eagle Bike Engines Kit including the entire mounting unit, drive ring, gears, belts and throttle are all 100% Made in the USA – We hold our company to higher standards and proudly support American jobs. All of the kits parts are manufactured in Michigan with US steel and have a rust proof coating to ensure the kit maintains its quality and integrity for many, many years. While in contrast – ALL other bicycle kits on the market are produced over seas… We don’t outsource our pride to other countries!

Easy assembly and installation… The kit takes roughly 30 minutes to 1 hour to install. First of all, snap the drive ring on the rear wheel with the included tool, install four nuts and bolts, one screw for the kill button and slide the mount strap into place on the rear axle. The trigger throttle clips on your handlebars for use with your thumb or finger, whichever is more comfortable for you to use.

The automatic centrifugal clutch design allows the engine to engage/disengage based on the RPM of the engine. Therefore when you let off on the trigger throttle – you will start to slow down and eventually come to a stop idle – like the automatic transmission of your car. No dangerous levers to push or pull! Control of the bike can be maintained at all times with Both hands on the handlebars! Furthermore – the Drive Ring is made with a reinforced hybrid polymer – for extreme durability and dependability.

Our geared Drive Belt is Kevlar reinforced for extra durability. Most noteworthy, the majority of our customers find the belt will last for more than a year with proper care and riding. Consequently your riding style dictates belt life.  With a Breaking strength of 1280 lbs. our kevlar belts are designed with extreme conditions in mind. The kit includes a custom molded Safety Cover for the moving parts to ensure your safety. Award winning designs with almost 100 years of combined experience ensure you’re getting the most bang for your buck with a Golden Eagle.

The kit will fit most 24″- 26″ bicycles. It will also work for 700c wheels with 32 or 36 spokes. Just rotate the ring over your wheel until the spoke slots align with wheel’s spokes. Then using our 4 n 1 Key;  you can attach the spokes easily with a snap. Securely fits spoke sizes from 15 gauge to 12 gauge. **How to’ use our 4n1 Key**

About Our Kits…

Golden Eagle’s patented geared belt, positive drive system allows for a more efficient power transfer, from the engine to the wheel over friction drive or gear reduction chain drive units.

Many of our customers are commuters, disabled or seniors -and GEBE is committed to providing reliable, affordable motorized bicycle transportation. Our 4-Stroke and 2-Stroke engines are extremely well built for long life, dependability and fuel efficiency, while meeting Carb Tier II EPA requirements. Coupled with our efficient, geared belt power transfer system results in the most dependable, easy to install and use, best mileage and environmentally friendly bicycle assist engine kit available.

“My Golden Eagle Bike Engines Recumbent – First of all, I built my bike last year with the intention of it being powered from the beginning. Most noteworthy, I have been riding for two seasons now and it is great. I have already put 500KM on it this year.
Here is a video of my commute

Why is Golden Eagle Bike Engines better than eBikes, Friction or Chain Drives?

  • Electric Bicycle VS. Gas Motor Bicycle kits – Read up on the pitfalls and dangers of eBikes.
  • No excessive tension, friction or vibration to cause bike parts to fatigue, engine to wear out or burn tires up.
  • The geared belt is a more efficient (and less expensive) method of transferring power from engine to wheel – ever wonder why motorcycle manufactures now use the geared belt?
  • Better traction under any conditions: rain, puddles, muddy roads, snow, sand, trail riding or on the road.
  • No rollers to rub hole in tire, especially when wet – even ‘morning dew’ wet.
  • Pressure is evenly distributed to the entire wheel not just the tire; Will not cause the rim to warp or excessive tire wear.
  • Positive drive system allows for more efficient power transfer from engine to wheel.
  • Simple, Easy to change drive gears for multiple riding conditions – No adjustment or re-alignment required.
  • Our smaller, Quieter, lighter engines yield much better gas mileage And performance!
  • Easy to engage belt tension lever for pedaling or engine use.
  • No dangerous lever on handlebar to impale rider.
  • No heavy gear boxes to add excessive weight and suck up the engine’s power.
  • Our Lightweight, Trim unit sits well within the pedal crank and below the seat.
  • No limitation of tire selection: aggressive, trail or street.
  • You can even keep your fender, you can’t do That with a friction (scrub) drive.
  • GEBE’s well balanced design allows use of kickstand that came with your bike. (Which is most noteworthy compared to other bike kits)

How much does the Golden Eagle Bike Engines kit weigh?

Individual Engine Specs are listed on the INFO page, however depending on the engine – The Total weight of engine and all mounting parts range from 12 lbs to 14 lbs.

How loud are the motorized bike engines?

All small engine are between 70 db’s at Idle to 85 db’s at Full Throttle. 4-stroke engines are in the same range.

Can I pedal without the engine running?

YES…One of the features of our kit is that you can disengage the belt tensioner with a flip of a small lever and the bike will pedal like normal.
You won’t feel much drag, pedaling the 35cc engine for short distances, with tension lever off. Pedaling longer distances and for engines with larger clutches, it’s much easier to remove belt from drive ring. It takes seconds:
1) With tension lever off, roll bike a few inches as you lift belt from track of drive ring,
2) *Carefully* flip tension lever back to on position, belt will be held in position on drive gear, ready for re-installation of belt.
3) Loop belt out of the way (many just loop over knob) twist tie, if you wish. Takes less than 1 min. To replace, re-route belt for engine use.

What kind of fuel does the bicycle motor take?

The 2-stroke engines use Unleaded Gas, 87 octane or better with Quality 50:1 2-stroke mixing oil for Air Cooled engines – we Highly recommend synthetic Blends, not straight synthetic.
For the 4-stroke engines, 87 octane, or better, is recommended and the oil you find runs best in your auto and/or recommended for weather conditions in your area, consult your Engine Manual.

Would a bicycle shop be a good place to take my Golden Eagle Bike Engines kit for installation?

Yes, many bicycle shops have an open attitude when it comes to motorizing a bike. You may have to search around but there are definitely sources out there for the install if you’re not up for it.

When you say "pedal a few strokes" on take-off, what speed do you recommend before pulling on the throttle?

You don’t have to pedal up to any certain speed, just a few strokes to start the bike rolling, as you ease on the throttle. Taking off from a traffic light, I always pedal a few more strokes for a faster take-off. When I say ‘ease’ on the throttle, I mean – Don’t yank it! Treat the machine with a little respect and you’ll be rewarded for a long time – these are bicycle engines not motorcycles (although some of these engines might argue that opinion).

Which engine is recommended as commuter transportation?

A general ‘rule of thumb’ would be to recommend a 2-stroke engine, most commuters are looking for the fastest speed – 2-strokes are faster and made to run full throttle all day (with 4-strokes, it’s recommended to back off the throttle slightly for long range cruising).

What kind of oil should I use for my bicycle engine?

For 2-stroke engines, use a quality oil expressly labeled: 50:1 Two Stroke Mixing Oil for Air Cooled Engines – and only mix it 50 parts gas to 1 part oil. We highly recommend synthetic blends as opposed to straight synthetics.
4-stroke engines take automotive oil – and whatever is recommended for your temperatures. Consult your engine manual.

How do I change the oil in my 4-stroke, without having to turn the motor bike upside down?

With a basting bulb – and don’t grab the one out of the kitchen – Unless you’re fast! A 3 – 4 inch piece of gas line (auto parts) stuck on the tip of the baster will facilitate the job.

My wheel has 32 spokes and has held up well to my 25cc Eagle bicycle motor kit, will it hold up to larger engines?

We strongly recommend you have a 36 spoke wheel for engines 30cc and larger.

I have a 35cc 4-stroke, my 26 wheel spokes are 14 gauge but the spokes occasionally break - any fix?

Replace spokes with a US quality stainless straight (not tapered) spokes – the difference between Asian and US stainless is tremendous.

What features should I look for in a bike - Specifically to motorize?

Specifically? 36 spoke (stainless steel spokes) wheels, solid axle (not a quick release) and rim brakes will simplify the process – Then, #1, find a bike that’s comfortable for you! Fenders, rear view mirror, speedometer and a nice fat comfort saddle, our customers find they spend a lot more time on their Eagle than they ever did on a pedal bike.

Any problems reported with disk brakes?

Disk brakes put a lot of stress on spokes, addition of engine doubles the stress, maintenance might get expensive.
Some disk brakes only require the lower mount strap be spaced out with a nut/washer for proper mounting – Others find they have to grind a 1/4″ wedge from the lower strap to clear the brake, still others require serious modification of the mount and would not be recommended. Installation instructions on the ‘How To’ page of this website are very helpful in answering this issue.

Can I mount an Eagle bike engine top my mono-shock bike?

Yes, again, the installation instructions are helpful. The front mount strap is attached to the fender bolt hole (not the seat post), the securely mounted engine moves with the wheel.

What are the belts made out of?

We have found the belts are a kevlar based material (what bullet proof vests are made of) for super long life and strength.

How do I turn them off or stop the bike motor?

The Golden Eagle standard kit comes with a simple kill button you can attach to your handlebar – OR – flip the engine choke lever on/forward to kill the engine.

Do I need a driver's license to ride a motorized bicycle?

No, in most states our kit does not classify as a motor vehicle/moped. Check your local laws to be safe.

Can I add an additional muffler to reduce noise of my bicycle engine kit?

Unless it’s approved, we do not recommend it. Restricting exhaust flow can cause engine to overheat, reducing life and/or loss of performance. Therefore Warranty does not cover use of any unauthorized parts. An exhaust tip that turns noise away from rider’s ear, back and toward the street – makes a difference without causing air restriction, overheating or loss of performance.

Do you recommend a particular kind of bicycle to use with your Kit?

How to pick the right bike for your Golden Eagle Bike Engine Kit.

What are the differences between a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke Golden Eagle Bike Engines kit?

Detailed explanation between these two different types of engines.

Do you offer a warranty or return policy?

Yes! we offer a 1 year mount warranty and a return policy. Furthermore – we are here 6 days a week for all support questions!

What kind/size of wheel does the drive ring fit?

Our drive rings fit either 32 spoke or 36 spoke wheels (recommended), besides that, it requires the standard 3 cross or 4 cross spoke pattern, which is common to most bicycles. Fits 24″, 26″ and 700c (not recommended) wheels.
To provide the most dependable ride and simplify installation and least expense, we recommend: 26″ – 36 spoke wheels (stainless steel, straight spokes preferred), dual rim brakes, solid axle w/nuts on the rear wheel and a bike that is comfortable. The spokes are shorter and therefore stronger than the larger 700 wheels.

Will your motorized bicycle engine kit work with 700c wheels?

Probably… The units will fit a 700c wheel, however the spokes of a 700c are longer and therefore less strong for motorizing. We have found that due to limited room under the mount because of the larger diameter wheel which may cause the tire would rub the bolts that connect the engine bracket to the Lower strap.

We certainly have quite a few customers that have made it work great with 700c wheels.

Will your bicycle motor kit work with 29 inch wheels?

How do I determine what size my wheel is?

Refer to sidewall of tire to determine wheel size, numbers indicate size of wheel and width of tire.
