Featuring excellent power-to-weight, all
Tanaka engines are built with the highest
quality engine components for long life and
quick and easy starting. As with all engines
we sell, this long life engine will take
up to 2000 miles for total 'break-in' to
attain peak performance. During the break-in
period, never mix the oil rich, always use 50:1 gas/oil
mix ratios.
Recommended gears -
- #13 - Standard (Included) - Excellent for
most riding conditions on street and trail.
Faster speeds and better mileage than Trail
gear.
- #12 - Trail (Optional) - For more hilly terrain
or heavier loads, improved acceleration but
slightly less top speeds and gas mileage.
- #14 - Highway (Optional) - 10% faster MPH
then the standard gear. Engine operates at
a lower RPM resulting in a quieter running,
higher mileage and faster cruising speeds.
Reduced low-end, you may have to pedal a
few more strokes on the steeper hills.
Other than the 40cc Tanaka, the only engine with the power to push
the #14 HTD gear.
For those who like to tinker or are looking
for even More performance, Tanaka makes some
fine performance parts for the 32cc (and
40cc) engines. We recommend you have at least
1000 miles on the engine before customizing.
Power Pipe
Performance Pack
Purefire®, Tanaka's innovative two-stroke
engine, is a traditional two-stroke engine
that produces ultra-low emissions without
the need for special or additional internal
moving parts.
During the intake/compression stroke, the
optimized scavenging system within the cylinder
and crankcase walls (see illustration), significantly
increase the atomization of the fuel/air
mixture which results in a much more efficient
combustion process.
Then, in the combustion/ exhaust stroke,
the exhaust exits through a small catalytic
converter in the muffler where the remaining
hydrocarbons turn into carbon dioxide.

What is covered / What is not covered
All parts defective in material and workmanship.
This warranty will only cover defects arising
under normal usage, and shall not apply,
nor will Tanaka Kogyo Co., Ltd. assume any
responsibility, if the failure was caused
by the following:.
1. Operation of product with incorrect fuel
to oil ratio.
2. Misuse or abuse.
3. Negligence.
4. Accident or physical damage.
5. Repairs made by unauthorized parties and/or
with unauthorized parts.
6. Improper set up or altered products.
7. Improper adjustments, i.e.: carburetor,
etc.
8. Operation of engine speeds above Tanaka
Kogyo Co., Ltd. recommendations.
9. Failures due to contaminated fuel.
10. Failure to operate the unit in the manner
specified by the "owners manual."
Normal maintenance and adjustments to the
magneto, points, carburetor, and spark plugs
are not considered the responsibility of
Tanaka Kogyo Co., Ltd. under this warranty.
Limitation on Liability
THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER
EXPRESS WARRANTIES, OBLIGATIONS, OR LIABILITIES.
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, OBLIGATIONS OR LIABILITIES
INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED
WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED
IN DURATION TO THE APPLICABLE WARRANTY PERIOD
( 1 YEAR). ANY ACTION FOR BREACH OF ANY WARRANTY
HEREUNDER INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO,
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY MUST
BE BROUGHT WITHIN A PERIOD OF SIX MONTHS
FROM THE END OF THE APPLICABLE WARRANTY PERIOD.
Some states do not allow limitations on how
long an implied warranty lasts, so the previously
stated limitations may not apply to you.
No agent, representative, dealer, or employee
of Tanaka Kogyo Co. Ltd. or Tanaka America,
Inc. has the authority to increase or alter
the obligations of this warranty.
IF THE PRODUCT IS USED PRIMARILY IN A COMMERCIAL
ENDEAVOR, TANAKA KOGYO CO., LTD WILL NOT
BE LIABLE FOR GENERAL DAMAGES INCLUDING BODILY
INJURIES, EXCEPT AS SET FORTH ABOVE, OR FOR
INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES INCLUDING,
BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOSS OF USE, LOSS OF
PROFITS, LOSS OF PRODUCTION, EXPENSE OF SUBSTITUTE
EQUIPMENT OR OTHER COMMERCIAL LOSS OR DAMAGE.
THE SAME LIMITATIONS SHALL APPLY TO A PRODUCT
USED FOR CONSUMER PURPOSE WITH RESPECT TO
ALL NONPERSONAL INJURY, GENERAL INCIDENTAL
AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
For how long?
One year after delivery to the first user.
The following products which are NOT intended
for commercial use are EXCLUDED from the
one year commercial warranty coverage: AST-210/7000S,
TBC-225C, TBC-230B, TBC-2100/2400, TBC-2251/2800,
4000(1), 4500(1), TPE-2110, and THB-2100/2400.
"Commercial use" under the terms
of warranty is defined as all applications
other than those, which are considered "household
use".
Tanaka warrants its ignition modules (includes
igniters but not ignition coils from 2 piece
systems) for a period of five years, whether
put to consumer or commercial use.
What you must do to obtain limited warranty
service
To obtain performance of any obligation under
this warranty for failure during the applicable
warranty period, deliver the Tanaka product,
shipping prepaid, to Tanaka Kogyo Co., Ltd.
C/O International Sales & Marketing,
Inc., or to the nearest Tanaka Authorized
Service Dealer. Tanaka Kogyo Co., Ltd. Reserves
the right to inspect the claimed defective
part(s) to determine if the malfunction is
the result of a defect covered by this warranty.
Other conditions
This warranty is limited to repair or replacement
by Tanaka Kogyo Co., Ltd or at the premises
of Tanaka Authorized Service Dealers, of
such parts as appear to Tanaka, upon inspection,
to be defective in material and/or workmanship.
The above warranties are extended to the
first end user, and no warranty is made nor
authorized to be made assignable on resale
by the first end user. Tanaka makes no warranty
with respect to trade accessories not manufactured
by Tanaka or sold by it. Such trade accessories
are subject to the warranty policy of their
